Coffee and Dawn Patrol: A Solid Alliance

Dawson Taylor’s Dawn Patrol is the perfect coffee blend of eye opening flavor and support for America’s snowscapes.

National SnowSchool Director, Kerry, and Director of Coffee, Aaron, meet up to share this season’s donation from Dawn Patrol coffee sales

Working to protect America’s wild snowscapes takes an Alliance! And a great example of an amazing contribution to our growing movement is our friends over at Dawson Taylor Coffee Roasters.

The story starts in the summer of 2018 when — based on a common love for mornings spent outdoors and a headquarters based in Boise, Idaho — we hatched a collaborative scheme to brew up a uniquely tasty and preservation-focused partnership.

After a series of delicious taste tests and intense name mulling sessions: Dawn Patrol Coffee was born (“Keep Winter Caffeinated” felt accurate but not quite as eloquent).  Cut to five years later and our early morning adventures together continue!

Supporting Our Work

Every year from the first day of winter until the first day of summer, Dawson Taylor’s Dawn Patrol coffee blend benefits our work and is best brewed with melted snow and enjoyed in the predawn hours en route to adventure. Also, summer to winter (aka low-snow months) they donate the same percentage of coffee sales to SWIMBA to support their work building and preserving a world-class, multi-use trail network in Southwest Idaho.

For every pound sold, they donate $0.50 to our work protecting wild snowscapes, connecting youth to the outdoors, and inspiring the human-powered backcountry experience. It’s hard to espresso how much this beans to us!

Dawn Patrol is a bold and balanced organic blend of Peru and Sumatra. Dark chocolate, almond, and cashew. Available as Whole Bean, French Press, Drip, or Cone and ships nationwide. Huge coffee kudos to everyone involved!

We need you! Here at WWA we recently honed our mission and vision to better reflect our goals and strategy (read a bit about the revision here). A big part of our strategy for success is that we need everyone.

We are currently an alliance of over 100 grassroots environmental organizations, backcountry partners, 70 SnowSchool sites, over 60 Backcountry Film Festival hosts, and thousands of individual members — and we are looking to grow!

Got an idea for how you or your organization would like to contribute and become a part of the alliance? Please reach out to our Membership Director, Kate Thorpe, at kthorpe@winterwildlands.org.
