Presented by Winter Wildlands Alliance, the annual Backcountry Film Festival celebrates the power and spirit of humans in winter. Out of 320+ films submitted, our selection committee has chosen this year’s very best stories of backcountry adventure and snow cinema by human-powered athletes, brands, activists and adventurers.

- 6:00pm Doors Open at Treefort Music Hall: play festival games for chance to win prizes, enter the raffle, show off your retro skiwear costume, donate to the winter gear drive, plus enjoy food by Pie Hole and Drinks by TMH
- 7:00pm: Films start!
Retro Skiwear Costume Contest
To celebrate the Backcountry Film Festival’s 20th anniversary season, come dressed like it’s 2004!
And as we all know, the best dirtbags in 2004 were still dressed like it was 1984. So dust off your neon onesies, oversized goggles, and vintage ski jackets—it’s time to turn back the clock at the Backcountry Film Festival! Compete for the title of Best Retro Look by showing up in your most outrageous retro skiwear.
The audience will vote for the winner based on creativity, authenticity, and style. The winner will be announced during intermission and receive a special prize for best-dressed!
Whether you’re channeling 80s ski fashion or rocking the classic 70s après-ski vibe, we can’t wait to see your look!
Winter Gear Drive
Winter Wildlands Alliance is proud to partner with the Indigenous Idaho Alliance for a winter coat drive. Together, we’re working to ensure everyone in our community stays warm this season. Help us share warmth and support a sustainable winter for everyone and join us by bringing a new coat to donate at the Backcountry Film Festival.

Audience Award
You will have the chance to make your voice heard! Premiere attendees can enter the Audience Award by voting for their favorite film. By voting, you’ll be entered to win an brand new, full backcountry setup, including a WNDR Alpine set of skis or a split-board, a Rocky Talkie radio, mountainFLOW poles, and a Hyperlite Mountain Gear pack.
